Who We Are — letter beads
Our Mission

At Rebel Tails Rescue, we exist to save dogs and guinea pigs from homelessness across Victoria and NSW. We do this through a foster-based, 100% volunteer-run model, and believe in rehabilitating and rehoming animals in need while supporting the people who care for them just as much as the animals themselves.

We're a registered charity, community-powered, and we look cool as hell doing it 🤘

We believe
rescue can be
done differently

Rebel Tails Rescue was founded by five people who'd spent years in the rescue world and had an idea that it could be better — for the animals, for the carers, and for the community around them.

We believe in force-free, evidence-based, humane approaches to animal welfare from both our community and our adopters.

We want rescue to be enjoyable, accessible and sustainable, and our mantra is support the people as much as the animals.

REBEL STYLE IS

COMMUNITY FIRST

We supply everything carers need, and believe in a welcoming, kind and safe rescue experience for everyone.

HUMANE ALWAYS

Evidence-based, humane practices underpin everything we do, from how we care for animals to how we treat each other. No exceptions.

SUSTAINABILITY

We don't load people up until they break. Burnt-out volunteers can't save anyone — so we build rescue that people can actually sustain.

Our Board — letter beads
AISLING, president of Rebel Tails Rescue

AISLING

PRESIDENT

She/Her

A decade of rescue experience spanning dogs, exotics, and now an unrivaled passion for guinea pigs. Aisling is completing her wildlife zoology degree and brings 15 years of UX design to everything she does. Her passion lies in creating accessible, enjoyable rescue experiences that support people as much as animals.

NICHOLAS, vice-president of Rebel Tails Rescue

NICHOLAS

VICE-PRESIDENT

He/Him

Proud dad to Harley (white fluffy menace bordoodle) and Nymeria (alter ego: Fang). Nick studied International Development and International Relations and is excited to put his knowledge of charities, NGOs, community building into deeply practical use. Found rescue through his sister Emma and brother-in-law Kit, and hasn't looked back!

EMMA, treasurer of Rebel Tails Rescue

EMMA

TREASURER

She/Her

Emma is 6 years into rescue life, and brings with her a wealth of knowledge. She and her husband Kit run a pet sitting business and a dog daycare and grooming facility alongside her brother (and co-founder) Nick — so yes, there are always dogs. Outside of animals, she's into film photography, baking, cooking, and anything creative or food-related. Also makes the most incredible vegan baked goods. If you're lucky you might get to try some at our events!

KIT, secretary of Rebel Tails Rescue

KIT

SECRETARY

He/Him

Emma's husband, co-conspirator in all animal-related ventures, and the kind of person who somehow always has a smile on his face. Kit has a magical way with dogs and a calm, logical approach to any problem, a genuinely rare combination and one that Rebels are thrilled to have. He brings years of hands-on animal experience and a deep commitment to rescue that is safe, enjoyable, and sustainable for everyone involved.

EDDIE, creative director of Rebel Tails Rescue

EDDIE

CREATIVE DIRECTOR

They/Them

The force behind our iconic, obnoxiously bright graphics. Eight years fostering and volunteering, guinea pig intake co-lead with Aisling, and devoted to Margot, Baby, and best friend Ernie the amstaff x bulldog. Outside rescue: graphic designer, illustrator (@getting_petty), wannabe nail tech, art lover, cheesy TV enthusiast, and beginner of too many craft projects. If you see any graphics of animals wearing sunglasses, there's a 99% chance Eddie is the culprit.
